Government confirms €4.4m spend to protect landmark buildings across Ireland

FUNDING of £4.4m has been allocated to protect heritage buildings across Ireland. Ireland pledges support for Moldova gaining EU membership

IRELAND has confirmed its support for Moldova in its bid to gain EU membership. The Moldovan President Maia Sandu was in Dublin yesterday, where she met with President Catherine Connolly and held a meeting with Taoiseach Micheál Martin and Tánaiste Simon Harris. Two men airlifted to hospital following serious collision in Co. Longford

TWO men are in hospital being treated for serious injuries following a collision in Co. Longford. GARDAÍ have appealed for information on the anniversary of the death of a young woman in Co. Clare. Art student Emer O’Loughlin’s remains were found in a mobile home in Ballybornagh, Tubber on April 8, 2005. A first edition draft of a chapter from James Joyce’s “Ulysses” is sold for close to £900,000 at an auction on this date in 2001. The scribble-filled manuscript of the chapter, titled Eumaeus, was sold by Sotheby’s. It was expected to sell for more than £1m.
