Hurling Returns to Fenway Park

The sport of hurling will return to Fenway Park with a doubleheader in the AIG Fenway Hurling Classic and Irish Festival on November 19. The park last hosted a hurling event in 2015, bringing to an end its absence of 61 years. Ireland v. Mexico Soccer Friendly

The Irish men’s national soccer team is set to square off against Mexico June 1 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Meagher’s Memorial, Late, But Not Forgotten

When General Thomas Francis Meagher died, he never received a formal memorial. The 150th anniversary commemoration of Colonel Thomas J. Kelly and the Manchester Martyrs was celebrated at the Historic Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx in April. Ireland-based Waterford Crystal’s “Star of Hope” cut glass ball was selected by New York City on this day in 1999 to welcome the new millennium for Times Square’s New Year’s Eve. The glass ball had a six foot diameter and was covered with 572 crystal panels, each consisting of five diamond shapes.
