RESPONDING to a report by the Crisis Pregnancy Agency, Health Minister Mary Harney made a case for contraception to be available for girls as young as 11. Hollywood actor Matt Dillon was recently in Galway for the Arts Festival. He brought a film he is extremely proud of, City of Ghosts. John Farrow, screenwriter, director and father of actress Mia Farrow, was born on February 10, 1904 in Sydney, Australia to John Farrow and Mary Savage Villiers. After working as a sailor he went to Hollywood in the 1920s and got his first job as a technical advisor. He then became a screenwriter in, notably writing the script for “Tarzan Escapes” (1936) where he met his  future wife, Irish-born Maureen O’Sullivan, who played Jane. She converted Farrow to Catholicism and he later wrote biographies of Saint Thomas More and Saint Damien of Molokai. Farrow’sgreatest accomplishments were his Academy Award win for the “Around the World in Eighty Days” (1956) script and his nomination as Best Director for Wake Island (1942).
