
Bishop Reilly

Bishop Daniel Reilly was installed in the diocese of Worcester, Massachusetts in 1994. He has a long history of charitable work in the cause of peace, and in 1994 was named to the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. Bishop Reilly was one of those who accompanied President Clinton to Ireland last year.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1928, Bishop Reilly is one of nine children. He attended Our Lady of Providence Seminary in Warwick, Rhode Island, and the Grand Seminaire in St. Brieuc, France. He furthered his studies at Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration, and Boston College School of Business Administration.
Ordained in 1953, Bishop Reilly spent a number of years in Providence, and attended two sessions of the Second Vatican Council in 1962 and 1964. In 1965, he was named Monsignor, and ten years later was installed as Bishop of the diocese of Norwich, Connecticut. Bishop Reilly served as Chairman of the Board of Catholic Relief Services.
