Congressman
Congressman Jack Quinn is currently in his second term representing the 30th District of New York in the House of Representatives, and his first election to Congress in 1992 was widely reported as “the biggest upset in local political history.”
Quinn was born in 1951 in South Buffalo to Jack and Nora Quinn. He earned a bachelors degree from Siena College, a masters degree in education from SUNY Buffalo, and taught English for ten years.
Last summer he, his wife Mary and their two children traveled to Ireland for the first time, visiting Ballina, County Mayo, the birthplace of Jack’s grandfather, Peter Quinn.
Congressman Quinn is a member of the Friends of Ireland group, which comprises Republican and Democrat members of Congress with a keen interest in Irish affairs.
He also sits on the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and the Veterans’ Affairs Committee. He was appointed by the Speaker of the House to the prestigious House-Senate Joint Economic Committee.
