Janet Lenaghan

Hofstra University

Janet Lenaghan became the first female dean of the Frank G. Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University in January 2019. Under her leadership, the school has achieved significant milestones, including securing a historic $35 million donation for undergraduate scholarships—the largest in Hofstra’s history—and launching innovative, technology-driven degree programs tailored to emerging business and workplace trends.

The Zarb School is one of an elite group of business schools worldwide to hold dual AACSB accreditations in both business and accounting, a distinction that underscores its commitment to academic excellence and high standards in teaching, research, and student outcomes.

Dean Lenaghan has prioritized strategic industry partnerships that enrich Zarb students’ educational experiences, enhance career readiness, and foster lifelong mentorship opportunities. With a robust alumni network of over 40,000 professionals worldwide, Zarb students gain access to diverse career and academic opportunities, including a study abroad program in Ireland, supported by Zarb alumni, many of whom live and work in the country.

Through these initiatives, the Zarb School continues to earn recognition as a leader in undergraduate and graduate business education. It is celebrated for its forward-thinking curriculum and commitment to student success.

Janet holds a bachelor’s degree from Adelphi University, an MBA from the Zarb School of Business, and a doctorate from Pace University.

A proud Irish American, Janet traces her roots to County Clare.
