Jean Butler

Dancing Queen

Jean Butler and her former dance partner Michael Flatley have brought modern Irish dance to worldwide prominence with their spectacular and successful Riverdance.

Butler, a native of Long Island, New York, has been dancing for 20 years, and brings her experience and talent to the stage of Radio City Music Hall this month in the American production of Riverdance – The Show.

At the age of four, Jean Butler began studying ballet, and when she was six she joined the Donny Golden School of Irish Dancing, the beginning of an illustrious career in dance.

A graduate of the University of Birmingham in England with a degree in drama and theater, Jean Butler soon became a force to be reckoned with in the dance world, and became well known upon touring with the Chieftains.

She represented Ireland at the Expo ’92 in Seville, Spain, and has just completed her first major film role in The Brylcreem Boys.
