
John Connorton Jr.
Political Strategist
John Connorton Jr., one of the most influential Democratic Party strategists in the country, has dedicated a lot of time to promoting economic development in Ireland. A frequent visitor to Northern Ireland, he is a member of the Flax Trust in Belfast, and is an honorary director of John Hume’s North West International Ltd., the former Derry-Boston ventures.
Educated by the Jesuits at Holy Cross College and Fordham Law School, Connorton is a native New Yorker. He is well known for his charitable, civic, cultural and political activities, and is frequently consulted on public policy issues by the reigning administration.
Connorton served as the New York state director of presidential campaigns for Gary Hart in 1984, Al Gore in 1988, and Bob Kerrey in 1992.
In New York, he managed campaigns for former Mayor Ed Koch, and Bob Morgenthau and Bob Wagner.
Connorton’s grandparents hail from Countries Roscommon, Mayo, Kerry and Cork.
