Julie Moran

Broadcaster

The transition from sports commentary to entertainment news seems like a natural one for Julie Moran – the veteran broadcaster looks quite at home on Entertainment Tonight.

Moran was perhaps better known for her years of commentary in sports, and she was recognized by being named the first female host in the 34-year history of the Emmy Award-winning ABC’s Wide World of Sports in 1994.

Julie Moran said she is Irish twice over – her maiden name was O’Brien. Born in Georgia, Moran is also an accomplished athlete. She was an all-state basketball player in high school, a regional tennis champion, and a state track finalist in the 100-yard dash.

She graduated in 1984 from the University of Georgia with a degree in broadcast journalism.
