Pete Hamill
Writer
A New York newspaperman for some 30 years, Pete Hamill successfully turned his hand to writing books, and has just published his latest – a series of his best newspaper articles titled Piecework. It perfectly reflects his colorful and celebrated career, during which no subject – or person – was safe from his razor-sharp pen. Controversial and provocative, Hamill’s journalism skills were honed at the New York Post, the Daily News, and the Village Voice.
He has contributed to magazines such as Esquire, Vanity Fair, and, of course, Irish America.
The author of seven novels and two collections of stories, Hamill also published his best-selling memoirs, A Drinking Life. The son of Belfast parents, Hamill grew up in Brooklyn. He has written extensively on Northern Ireland, bringing the conflict there into living color for millions of Americans. He lives in New York with his wife, Fukiko Aoki.
