Phil Gaughran

dentsu International

As global head of brand and communications for dentsu International, a 66,000 person advertising and media network, Phil is focused on reinventing how the industry markets some of the world’s biggest brands to consumers in the digital age. Phil is responsible for creating the corporate strategy to transform dentsu’s creative agency roster (over 60 distinct brands including mcgarrybowen, Isobar and 360i), into one cohesive creative model so that it’s easier for clients to get access to the best creative talent, solutions and work to drive their brand and business success across the globe. A consumer strategist by trade, Phil has 21 years of industry experience. He has created award-winning strategies for some of the world’s biggest brands, including Verizon, Burger King, Budweiser, Apple, Chevron, AT&T, Corona, Under Armor, Crayola, J.P. Morgan Chase and American Express. Born and raised in Shannon, Co. Clare, Phil earned a Bachelor of Business Studies from University of Limerick. He and his wife, Alison, now live in New York. “My job is built around storytelling for some of the biggest brands and companies in the world. And having traveled the world for my job, it’s clear that no place prepares you better for a career in storytelling than Ireland.”
