Ward Gahan

Biddy Murphy’s

Ward Gahan is the owner and CEO of Biddy Murphy Irish Gifts, an eCommerce site since 2004 that celebrates the joy of Ireland through authentic Irish goods, gifts, and experiences. Ward is a native of County Tipperary and an engineering graduate of University Limerick. In 1985 Ward was on assignment with a Michigan based automotive supplier that has their European HQ in Ireland. A three-month R&D assignment turned into 10 years in various Operational Management roles culminating in ownership of a major Truck Components Company. On trips back home to Ireland, friends would always ask him to purchase Irish goods – sweaters, caps, and Claddagh rings. He realized the opportunity to better represent real Irish goods and also meet the needs of the 30+ million Irish Americans. He eventually opened Biddy Murphy, named after his mother, Bridget (Biddy) Murphy Gahan. Ward lives in South Carolina with his wife, Mary. They have two adult children with one on each coast. Ward enjoys traveling, golf, staying fit through Irish dance, and connecting to Irish culture – sport, history, literature, philanthropy, music and laughter – wherever he roams.
