Sharon Cunningham

Shorla Oncology

Sharon co-founded Shorla Oncology (‘Shorla’) in 2018 in Ireland, and serves as the company’s CEO. Shorla is developing and commercializing innovative oncology drugs for women’s and pediatric cancers focusing on indications where existing treatments are limited, in shortage or inadequate for the target population. In 2021, Sharon relocated to Boston with her family to establish Shorla’s U.S. presence ahead of its first U.S. product launch and opened an office in Cambridge, MA. Sharon previously spent seven years as Head of Finance at EirGen Pharma (‘EirGen’) in Ireland. Prior to joining EirGen, she spent four years at PwC in Ireland and on assignment in New York City. Born and raised in Waterford, Sharon is a Fellow Chartered Accountant, holds a Bachelor of Science from University College Cork and an MBA from UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, Ireland. Sharon was named Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur 2019 and won the Worldwide Assoc-iation of MBA’s Best Entrepreneurial Venture Award 2020. In 2019, she led her team to win the MIT-Harvard Medical School Health-care Innovation Bootcamp Pitching Competition. She sits on the advisory board of LSX Female Founders and acts as a business mentor for the initiative.
