Yvonne Murray
RTÉ
Yvonne Murray is an Irish journalist currently posted in New York as RTÉ’s Global Security Reporter. In this role, she covers global affairs, the United Nations, North America, and Ireland’s evolving place in an increasingly complex world. Her reporting appears across RTÉ’s television, radio, and digital platforms, where she combines on-the-ground reportage with in-depth analysis to make sense of the international events shaping global security and diplomacy.
Before moving to New York, Murray was based in China for nearly a decade. There, she documented China-Ireland relations, the country’s rapid economic expansion, and its growing influence on the global stage. She reported on the ground from Xinjiang on the mass detention of the Uyghur minority, from Wuhan on the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic in Wuhan, and on the crackdown on pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong. Prior to joining RTÉ, Murray worked with BBC News in London as both a reporter and producer, with regular travel on overseas assignments.
Originally from Howth in Dublin, she has family roots in Galway and Sligo, grounding her international work in a strong Irish perspective.
