Holyhead Port fully operational again following storm damage repair work

HOLYHEAD port is fully operational once again after extensive repair work was undertaken due to the impacts of Storm Darragh. Barry Yelverton introduced the bill that will become Yelverton’s Act on this day in 1781. The bill was a modification to Poyning’s Law, which was already in place, and stated that all laws passed by both houses of the Irish parliament should be forwarded to England to become law by royal assent. This took the power to amend laws away from the Irish privy councils.
