Trio jailed over planned attack on RUC have convictions quashed as court says police conduct ‘reprehensible’

THREE men who were jailed over an attempt to attack a police football team have had their convictions quashed. In 1991, Declan Moen, Conor Gilmore and Declan Murphy, who is now a Sinn Féin councillor, were found guilty at a non-jury trial of possessing explosive substances. Gardaí investigating disappearance of child not seen for number of years find human skeletal remains

GARDAÍ investigating the disappearance of a child from Co Dublin have today found human skeletal remains. Daniel Aruebose, who would now be seven years old, has not been seen for a number of years. Only moderate growth forecast for Northern Ireland

DANSKE BANK has slightly upgraded its economic growth forecast for Northern Ireland in 2025 but warned that the outlook remains cautious due to domestic and global pressures. Legendary actor and Oscar winner Gregory Peck died on this day in 2003. Peck, who’s grandmother Catherine Ashe came from Dingle, studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York and debuted in his first Broadway show The Morning Star after graduation. His role in The Keys of the Kingdom in 1944 won him an Academy Award nomination. He became well known for his rugged screen presence and was often cast as the hero, especially in westerns. He starred opposite Audrey Hepburn in her first film Roman Holiday. Peck finally won the Oscar for his role as Atticus Finch in 1962’s To Kill a Mockingbird.
