TRIBUTES have been paid to a school principal from Co. Tyrone who has passed away at the age of 49. Barry Conroy had worked at St Oliver Plunkett Primary School and Nursery Unit in Beragh, Omagh for 27 years and became principal in 2022. Ombudsman launches investigation after death of man in garda custody in Dublin

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched by the garda ombudsman following the death of a man in custody. The man, aged in his 30s, died after becoming ill at a garda station in Dublin on Saturday. A BANNER at a children's play area in Co. Tyrone that was removed by police on Friday has been replaced. A SENATOR has said a travel ban preventing two Israeli ministers from travelling to Ireland is 'purely symbolic' and doesn't go far enough. Irish American author of “Angela’s Ashes” and Pulitzer Prize winner Frank McCourt passed away on July 19, 2009 in New York after battling melanoma cancer. Originally born in Brooklyn to Malachy and Angela McCourt, his parents moved the family back to Limerick after the death of his younger sister Margaret. The McCourts sunk very deep into poverty and this became the influence behind his autobiography “Angela’s Ashes.” In addition to writing, Frank McCourt had a successful career as a teacher.
