IRELAND'S Special Rapporteur on Racism and Racial Equality has called for a full independent Investigation into the death of Yves Sakila. Dr Ebun Joseph described footage of the 35-year-old being detained by security guards as 'deeply disturbing'. Five men arrested as part of investigation in dissident republican activity are released

FIVE men who were arrested in Belfast as part of an investigation into violent dissident republican activity have been released. The men, aged 26, 27, 38, 44 and 51, were arrested in the Poleglass area of west Belfast on Thursday evening under the Terrorism Act. Couple tied up during Co. Derry burglary

A COUPLE were left badly shaken after being tied up during a burglary in Co. Derry. The man in his 70s and the woman in her 60s were forced to hand over cash and other items before the offenders made off in the couple’s car. June 30, 1932

On this day, Eamon de Valera abolished the Oath of Allegiance, a provisional aspect in the Anglo-Irish treaty of 1921. This provisional aspect originally required all members of the Irish parliament to take an oath declaring their allegiance to the King. This date also marked when de Valera withheld land annuities from England.
