BELFAST’s Assembly Rooms have been added to a list of at-risk heritage sites located across the globe. The World Monuments Fund has issued its biennial ‘Watch’ list, featuring 25 historic places which are currently “facing major challenges such as climate change, tourism, conflict, and natural disaster”. Man arrested on suspicion of human trafficking in Dublin

A MAN has been arrested in Dublin on suspicion of human trafficking offences. The 55-year-old was arrested in north county Dublin this morning by gardaí attached to the Garda National Protective Services Bureau. “This arrest is in relation to an ongoing investigation into human trafficking for the purpose of labour exploitation,” the police force confirmed. ‘Devastating’: Rare white-tailed eagle shot dead in Ireland

AN investigation has been launched after a rare white-tailed eagle was shot dead in Ireland. The young female bird was part of a collaborative reproduction scheme between Ireland and Norway, the Irish Government has confirmed. Anne Maeve Binchy was born in Dalkey, County Dublin. Known to the world as Maeve Binchy, she would go on to become a revered novelist, playwright, short story writer, columnist and speaker. Binchy was beloved for her descriptive characters and charmingly humorous portrayals of life in Ireland. Her novels sold more than 40 million copies worldwide. She died in 2012 at the age of 73.
