A FUNDING injection of €1.2m has been announced to promote Irish arts and culture across the globe. Some €1,230,750 has been earmarked for 2024, which will benefit 160 projects in 40 countries, covering circus, dance, film, literature, music, opera, theatre and the visual arts. Man sought in connection with murder of three women is captured

A MAN being hunted by police in connection with the murder of three women has been captured. Kyle Clifford was discovered in the Enfield area of North London this afternoon by officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary. June 4, 1820

On June 4, 1820, Henry Grattan, outstanding orator and dominant figure in the Irish parliament, died. Grattan entered the Irish Parliament in December 1775. He was the leader of the Patriot movement that won legislative independence for Ireland in 1782. Later he headed opposition to the union of England and Ireland. Grattan spent the last 15 years of his life on the British House of Commons after being elected in 1805.
