CANNABIS worth nearly €3m has been seized at Shannon Airport. The drugs were found by Revenue officers in parcels which arrived at the airport yesterday (May 26). A MAN who fled to Ireland after tormenting an elderly woman during a burglary has been jailed. A WOMAN from Co. Donegal has died in a two-vehicle collision in Co. Tyrone. Bernadette (Bernie) Cranley, 82, from Lifford died in the incident outside Omagh on Saturday afternoon. Anne Maeve Binchy was born in Dalkey, County Dublin. Known to the world as Maeve Binchy, she would go on to become a revered novelist, playwright, short story writer, columnist and speaker. Binchy was beloved for her descriptive characters and charmingly humorous portrayals of life in Ireland. Her novels sold more than 40 million copies worldwide. She died in 2012 at the age of 73.
