THREE people have died following two separate road traffic collisions in Co. Tipperary this weekend. Two people are also being treated in hospital following the incidents, which occurred in Ballinunty and Clonmel. Father of former Celtic player and manager Neil Lennon passes away

GERRY LENNON, the father of former Celtic player and manager Neil Lennon, has passed away. The Co. Armagh native died at a care home on Friday 'surrounded by the love of his family' and will be laid to rest on Monday. THREE people have died following separate fires at residential properties in Northern Ireland thus weekend. Two women, one in her 40s and one in her 50s, as well as a man in his 20s, were all pronounced dead at the scene of the fires. The Irish government announced on this day in 1999 that the state had purchased the 550 acre site of the Battle of the Boyne for £9 million. In 1690, forces under rival claimants to the English throne, Catholic King James and Protestant King William, met at the River Boyne near Drogheda and fought. The battle was won by William, ending James’s quest to regain the crown and instituting the Protestant rule in Ireland. The site, which was purchased from an unidentified business man, was redeveloped and is now a tourist centre.
