A NEW exhibition has been launched which honours the important historic connections of Dublin’s Phoenix Park to the sporting lives of the people of Ireland. Jeffrey Donaldson will face trial on abuse charges judge rules

JEFFREY DONALDSON and his wife will face trial over historical sex offence charges, a judge has ruled. Two men sentenced for car-buying scam where sellers never received payment for vehicles

TWO men have been sentenced for an online car-buying scam which saw them take vehicles from unsuspecting victims without paying for them. Thomas Roberts, aged 30, and 25-year-old Shane McDonagh, both from the Staines area of Wraysbury in England, were convicted of seven counts of fraud and possession of criminal assets at Belfast Crown Court. Ireland’s Sanctuary Runners will launch first UK group this weekend

A NEW branch of Ireland’s Sanctuary Runners group is set to launch in Brighton this weekend. The initiative, founded in Cork in 2018, uses running, jogging and walking to bring together asylum seekers, refugees and other migrants with local residents to promote “solidarity-through-sports”. ‘Please slow down’ Gardaí urge drivers after spate of fatal incidents on Irish roads

GARDAÍ have sent their “deepest condolences” the families who have lost loved ones after a spate of fatal incidents occurred on Irish roads this week. Frank Patterson, known as “Ireland’s Golden Tenor”, died on this day in 2000 at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Born in Co. Tipperary in 1938, Patterson started singing as a young boy with his local church choir. He moved to Dublin in 1961 to enroll at the National Academy of Theater and studied acting and received vocal training. While studying in Paris, he caught the attention of Philips Recording Company after a radio broadcast. He signed a deal with the company and recorded his first record “My Dear Native Land.” He moved to the U.S. where he achieved the most success, selling out New York’s Carnegie Hall. He performed for Presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton.
