A TEENAGE boy has died after being involved in a collision with a tractor in Co. Kerry. Gardaí have confirmed they were called to the fatal road traffic incident at Beaufort Bridge in Beaufort, Co. Funeral details confirmed following motorcyclist’s ‘heartbreaking’ death

FUNERAL details have been confirmed for a motorcyclist who died in a collision in Co. Galway over the weekend. Patrick De la Ruelle died after his motorcycle collided with a car in Oranmore on April 4. The incident happened at around 4pm on the N67 at Tonroe, Gardaí have confirmed. Kildare man given life sentence following the murder of his friend

A KILDARE man has been given a life sentence today after ‘brutally’ beating his best friend to death with a baseball bat. It is understood that the man in question had been motivated by a desire to kill. Oliver Cromwell was made Lord Protector of Ireland on this date in 1653. Following the English Civil War, his victory in overthrowing the Stuart monarchy and the execution of King James I, English Parliament declared Cromwell “Lord Protector” in England’s first attempt at a state ruled government. He held this position for five years (1653-58) of the eleven years in which England remained a republican Commonwealth government. Cromwell had a detrimental effect on Ireland in these years. He led an invasion of Ireland from 1649-1650. The public practice of Catholicism was banned and all Catholic owned land was confiscated.
