Police name Co. Tyrone murder victim as 71-year-old Adam Krzan

POLICE have named a man murdered in  Co. Tyrone last week as 71-year-old Adam Krzan. The body of Mr Krzan was discovered in a flat in the Corrainey Park area of Dungannon on the evening of Thursday, February 27. French arms company Thales to open new facility in Northern Ireland

STORMONT has been told today that French-owned arms company, Thales, is due to open a third manufacturing facility in Northern Ireland. Man awarded £115k in damages following clerical sex abuse

A MAN is set to receive £115,000 in damages after claiming to have suffered sexual abuse at the hands of a priest in the high school he attended in Newry, Co. Down during the 1980s. Primary school boy remains in hospital after Dublin stabbing

THE GARDAÍ are investigating the stabbing of an 11-year-old boy at a primary school in north Dublin just before noon yesterday, which resulted in serious injuries. April 28, 1869

On this day in 1869, eight Irish laborers joined forces with a group of Chinese laborers to lay ten miles and fifty-six feet of track in under twelve hours for the Central Pacific Railroad company. It was a record in track-laying never to be equalled. The feat was the result of an ongoing rivalry between the Union Pacific and Charles Crocker’s Central Pacific. Each rail handler lifted approximately 125 tons of iron during the day. A few days later, the workmen rode in a wagon as part of Sacramento’s railroad celebration, while onlookers threw them flowers.
