‘Depraved and dangerous’ rapist is handed life sentence

A RAPIST described as 'depraved and dangerous' by police has been handed a life sentence following a violent attack on a woman. Thomas Mulroy raped the woman at his home in Chatham, Kent in March 2021 and then stopped her from leaving the property. Two men ‘repeatedly kicked to the head’ by group of males during Newry assault

POLICE are appealing for information following a report of an assault in Newry in which two men were repeatedly kicked in the head. The incident happened at Trevor Hill in the early hours of this morning. Man arrested in Dublin as almost €2m in gold and cash seized

A MAN has been arrested after almost €2m in gold and cash, as well as a large quantity of suspected drugs, were seized in the Dublin region. €1.4m in gold bullion, €460,000 in cash and €210,000 in suspected cocaine were found following a search of residential and business premises on Friday and Saturday. April 4 2007 marked a symbolic moment in relations between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Prior to a meeting at Farmleigh in Dublin, then Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and leader of the Democratic Unionist Party Ian Paisley shook hands. The handshake received much attention, especially because Paisley had previously publicly commented that he would not shake hands in public with the Taoiseach until a political settlement had been reached in Northern Ireland. Ahern described the handshake as ushering in a “new spirit of friendship.”
