A MAN has been sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison after being found guilty of a series of historical assaults. Ronan Farrell, 60, denied nine counts of indecent assault against a child between 1982 and 1984. Woman jailed for 14 years for ‘brutal’ murder of her partner as he slept

A WOMAN has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for the murder of her partner. Wiktoria Maksymowicz fatally stabbed Anthony 'Tony' Browne in the neck as he slept at the home they shared in West Belfast in 2022. PEOPLE who have been affected by adoption in Ireland are being asked to take part in newly launched public consultation. Investigation launched after dog attacked and killed by another dog

GARDAÍ are appealing for witnesses after a dog was attacked and killed by another dog in Co. Mayo. The incident happened at around 7pm on June 26 in Greenway Walk in Westport. April 22, 1834

On this day in 1834, Daniel O’Connell, the Irish political leader often referred to as “The Liberator” or “The Emancipator,” sparked a debate in the British House of Commons by calling for a repeal to the 1801 Act of Union. During a five-hour speech, O’Connell questioned the 2/17 tax that Britain had levied on Ireland, calling it a “fraction purposely introduced in order that Ireland might be robbed with greater facility.” Previously, O’Connell had successfully campaigned for the right for Catholics to sit in the Westminster Parliament. A critic of violent insurrection and a staunch abolitionist, he would serve as an inspiration to Frederick Douglass, and later to Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr.
