A NEWLY launched Irish language school has been named after a woman whose family were forced to fight to inscribe her headstone in Gaelic. Public appeal as Gardaí investigates murder of Shane Knott

GARDAÍ have appealed for members of the public who may have been in the area where a man was killed in Kildare to come forward. Officers have launched a murder investigation after the body of a man was discovered at house in Eustace Demesne in Naas at approximately 1.30pm on April 14. TWO men who were wrongfully convicted of a Co. Kerry murder in 1882 are set to receive a Presidential pardon from President Michael D Higgins. After the start of the Irish Rebellion of 1798 on May 24, the United Irishmen were defeated by British forces on this day in 1798. Historically known as the Battle of Vinegar Hill, almost 1,000 rebels lost their lives in this battle, which marked a turning point and eventual loss in the Rebellion of 1798.
