POLICE in England have appealed for information to help trace wanted man James Carthy. The 32-year-old from Dunsfold in Surrey is wanted for breach of court bail. High Court rules Legacy Act immunity provision breaches human rights

THE HIGH COURT in Belfast has ruled that part of the British Government's Legacy Act is in breach of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). In his ruling, Mr Justice Colton said the Act's provision of immunity was incompatible with articles 2 and 3 of the ECHR. Denis Johnston, Irish playwright and protege of W.B. Yeats and George Bernard Shaw, was born on this day in 1901. Johnston’s first play, “The Old Lady Says No!” helped establish his career as a playwright. “The Moon in the Yellow River” (1931) is perhaps his most well known play.
