Canadian-born Robert Kelly has been with the Wachovia Corporation since 2000 and is now its chief financial officer.
Wachovia Corporation boasts revenues of $25 billion and Kelly is responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, treasury management, investor relations, taxation, real estate operations and purchasing. He received his bachelor of commerce from St. Mary’s University in Canada and an MBA from the City University in London. He is also a chartered accountant. In recognition of his achievements, St. Mary’s awarded him an honorary doctorate in commerce. He was also named a fellow of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accounting. In 2004 and 2005 he was voted top CFO of major banks in an annual survey in Institutional Investor Magazine. He is a board member at Novant Healthcare and Cadillac Fairview and sits on the board of visitors at Queens University. Kelly’s ancestors immigrated to North America in 1808 from Lismore, County Waterford, but he believes his Irishness is cemented by the fact that his birthday is March 17. His middle name, not surprisingly, is Patrick. He is married with two children.
