St. Patrick’s Day 2022

The beginning of March is bringing with it a new outlook, the world is returning to ‘normal.’  As part of that ‘normal’, St. Patrick’s Day parades and celebrations will be back from the east to the west coasts.

St. Patrick’s Day 2020 fell in the midst of chaos as American citizens began panic buying toilet paper and hand santizer as the country went into lockdown. A year later, things were looking more optimistic, vaccines were becoming available and the world was slowly re-opening. However, both in the U.S. and the Emerald Isle the feast of St. Patrick was once again passing without official celebration.

This year, the parades are returning on both sides of the Atlantic. While the Irish government has promised Dublin’s showcase to be the biggest St. Patrick’s spectacle yet, we here at Irish America are giving you the low-down on the celebrations happening stateside.

Each year, Brendan J. Dunphy compiles a list of St. Patrick’s Day seasonal events and this year the list is filled with music and parades from across the country. Brendan provides us with 10 days of parades beginning next Saturday, March 5th.

As a country built on immigrants, the United States boasts the biggest and best celebrations for a variety of festivals.  The patron saint of Ireland is no exception. New York City plays host to the largest St. Paddy’s parade on the globe while Chicago ensures it is not to be forgotten by dying its river green. So whether you find yourself celebrating in New York or Chicago, Boston or Savannah let us be your ultimate guide to the festivities.

So whether you’re fresh off the boat or just enjoy wearing green, its time to dust of your leprechaun hats and shamrock glasses because

Lá Fhéile Pádraig is back! Tune in next week when we will be revealing celebrations for further dates, including the day itself!

Brendan’s full list of events.
