Drugs worth €2.1m hidden in boxes labelled ‘linen bedding’

DRUGS worth more than €2m were seized at Dublin Airport. Revenue officers discovered 107kg of herbal cannabis worth over €2.1m during a routine operation at the airport on February 6. Twenty football clubs across Northern Ireland offered development grants worth £400k

Palestinian children brought from Gaza to Ireland for medical treatment

SEVEN Palestinian children have been brought to Ireland from Gaza for medical treatment. More than 160 new Gardaí take up roles across Ireland

MORE than 160 newly qualified Gardaí have been sworn in at an attestation held in Dublin. Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, Jim O’Callaghan welcomed the attestation of 167 new officers at a ceremony held in the Garda College in Templemore on February 6. After the start of the Irish Rebellion of 1798 on May 24, the United Irishmen were defeated by British forces on this day in 1798. Historically known as the Battle of Vinegar Hill, almost 1,000 rebels lost their lives in this battle, which marked a turning point and eventual loss in the Rebellion of 1798.
