Record number of emergency food parcels given to struggling families in Northern Ireland

A RECORD number of food parcels have been delivered to struggling families in Northern Ireland over the past year. From April 2023 to May 2024 more than 90,000 emergency food parcels were distributed across the North through the Trussell Trust’s food bank network, the charity confirmed in its latest report. Forrest Reid, Irish novelist and literary critic, was born on this day in Belfast in 1875. To this day, Reid is regarded amongst the likes of J.M. Barrie and Hugh Walpole as a pre-war British boyhood novelist. His most famous work was Young Tom, for which he won a James Tait Black Memorial Prize in 1944.
