AN IRISHMAN has been shot dead after a three-hour stand-off. The man, named by MaltaToday as Edward Johnson, is reported to have been a former soldier. PSNI arrests over disorder rise to 34 as chief constable vows to ‘relentlessly pursue’ perpetrators

THE PSNI has revealed it has made 34 arrests in relation to recent disorder as Chief Constable Jon Boutcher vowed to 'relentlessly pursue' perpetrators. Three more people were arrested on Saturday on suspicion of offences including encouraging or assisting riot. Man to be extradited from Dublin in relation to murder case

A MAN is to be extradited from Dublin to Northern Ireland in relation to a murder case. The 60-year-old man was unlawfully at large from prison in the North over a murder conviction from 1990. Riots broke out in Londonderry after mid-Ulster MP Bernadette Devlin was arrested. Devlin, who participated in the Bogside riots of 1969, was sentenced to six months in jail. She had previously applied for an appeal, which was rejected by the Northern Ireland Court of Appeals. When police attempted to arrest Devlin at a roadblock in Londonderry, violence quickly escalated with the use of petrol bombs to which soldiers responded with tear gas.
