THE Mayor of Bethlehem has welcomed a motion by Derry City Council to twin the two cities. In January it was agreed at a full meeting of the Derry City and Strabane District Council that they would reach out to the authorities in Bethlehem, on the West Bank in Palestine, to start the twinning process. RYANAIR has cancelled more than 300 flights today as a strike by French air traffic controllers gets underway. PRESIDENT Michael D Higgins has confirmed that his hospitalisation earlier this year was due to having experienced a ‘mild form of stroke’. A MAN has been sentenced to community service in relation to the singing of an offensive song about murdered schoolteacher Michaela McAreavey. Dillion Kelly, 22, had denied a charge of behaviour likely to stir up hatred but was found guilty last month.
