Man in critical condition after Co. Down shooting

POLICE have appealed for information following a shooting in Co. Down that left a man in a critical condition in hospital. The man, aged in his 40s, was shot in the abdomen while in a car park in Rathriland Road, Banbridge shortly after 8pm on Friday. A MAN has been sentenced to 12 years after pleading guilty to more than 40 offences linked to the encrypted EncroChat network. On this day in 1816, Dublin born playwright and politician Richard Brinsley Sheridan died in London. Sheridan was a member of the British House of Commons and is best remembered for his plays “A Trip to Scarborough,” “The Rivals,” and “The School for Scandal.” He was very well respected by his contemporaries and is buried at the Poet’s Corner at Westminster Abbey.
