A MAN has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after being found guilty of a string of 'horrendous' child sex offences.   Sean Dooley, 57, of Shirley Manor Gardens, Bradford, West Yorkshire, committed the offences against his female victim over the course of almost 10 years. Man charged with murder following fatal shooting of elderly man in Co. Kerry

A MAN has appeared in court charged with murder following the fatal shooting of an elderly man in Co. Kerry at the weekend. High Court rules Legacy Act immunity provision breaches human rights

THE HIGH COURT in Belfast has ruled that part of the British Government's Legacy Act is in breach of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). In his ruling, Mr Justice Colton said the Act's provision of immunity was incompatible with articles 2 and 3 of the ECHR. A first edition draft of a chapter from James Joyce’s “Ulysses” is sold for close to £900,000 at an auction on this date in 2001. The scribble-filled manuscript of the chapter, titled Eumaeus, was sold by Sotheby’s. It was expected to sell for more than £1m.
