On February 2, 1882, James Augustine Aloysius Joyce, author of Dubliners, Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Ulysses and Finnegans Wake, was born in Rathgar, Dublin to John Stanislaus Joyce and Mary Jane Murray.
