Second arrest made following death of man in Co. Wexford on New Year’s Eve

GARDAÍ investigating the death of a man in Co. Wexford on New Year's Eve have made a second arrest. Emergency services were called to an incident at a residence in Cluain Fada, New Ross at around 11am on Tuesday, December 31, where a man in his 60s was found unresponsive. Man due in court on voyeurism charge following suspicious activity in Co. Fermanagh

POLICE investigating a report of suspicious activity around public toilets at a commercial premises in Co. Fermanagh have charged a man to court. Representatives appointed by Eamon de Valera of the Irish government, who include revolutionary Michael Collins, meet with representatives of the crown on this day in 1921 to sign the Anglo-Irish treaty. This officially marked the end of the Irish War for Independence. Collins, who did not support the agreement, remarked “I have signed by own death warrant.” One year later, however, the Irish Free State would come into being.
