A MAN in his 30s have died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision in Co. Galway. Two arrested after gardaí seize €185,000 worth of suspected ecstasy and cocaine

TWO people have been arrested after gardaí seized €185,000 worth of suspected ecstasy and cocaine in Co. Cork. The discovery was made at around 4pm on Saturday at a residence in the Douglas area. Man stabbed in eye during aggravated burglary in Derry

A MAN has been stabbed in the eye with a screwdriver during an aggravated burglary in Derry on Saturday. Man due in court charged with murder of teacher

A MAN has been charged with murder following the death of a teacher in South London. Gemma Devonish, 42, was found with stab wounds at an address in Nutfield Close in Carshalton, South London on Thursday evening. Sadly, Ms Devonish was pronounced dead at the scene. Archbishop Paul Cullen of Dublin becomes the first Irish cardinal on this day in 1866. Born in Co. Kildare, Cullen went on to study at the Sacred Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith. Cullen was appointed rector of Irish College and helped secure the college’s future. While rector from 1832-1850, he forged a close friendship with Pope Gregory XVI and Pope Pius IX and helped safeguard the interests of the Irish church. He was first made Archbishop of Armagh and then transferred to Archbishop of Dublin in 1852, where he would be later made a cardinal.
