Brian Lamb
TV Executive
Millions of households have benefited from the brainchild of Brain Lamb – when they tune into C-Span for complete coverage of the workings of the U.S. Congress and the Washington government.
A native of Lafayette, Indiana, Brain Lamb is a co-founder of the cable TV station, which employs 190 people and is beamed into 60 million American households.
Lamb is no stranger to the country’s power center. Upon graduating from Purdue University, he joined the navy, and found that his duties took him to the heart of Washington, the White House and the Pentagon.
Lamb began his involvement with television at an Indiana station before moving again to Washington, where he continued his work in journalism before becoming a Senate staffer. Media Report, a biweekly newsletter, was published by Lamb, who also contributed to Cable Vision magazine. C-Span originated in 1977, and its first broadcast went out in 1979. Lamb now serves as chairman and CEO of C-Span.
