‘They all had names’: Belfast City Council unveils plaque at workhouse Famine grave where 10,000 were buried

BELFAST CITY COUNCIL has unveiled a plaque marking the spot of the city's last Famine grave, where more than 10,000 people were buried. Woman and baby found dead in Co. Tipperary

THE BODIES of a woman and a baby have been found at a property in Co. Tipperary. The discovery was made at a domestic residence in Carrick-on-Suir on Friday afternoon. A LARGE fire has caused extensive damage to a commercial premises in Waterford city. Young man dies following collision in Co. Wexford

A YOUNG man has died following a road traffic collision on Co. Wexford. The incident occurred on the L4016 near Glenour, Adamstown at around 9.20pm on Friday. Jeremiah O’Donovan Rossa, a prominent Fenian leader and member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, passed away in New York on June 29, 1915. Born in Co. Cork, Rossa was arrested and in 1865. He was charged with planning a Fenian Rising. He served out his sentence in England and after realizing he could not return to Ireland in exile, Rossa moved to the U.S. where he joined Clan Na Gael and the Fenian Brotherhood. A memorial to Rossa Stands in St. Stephen’s Green.
