Arrest made after man hospitalised following ‘serious’ attack

POLICE investigating a serious assault which left a man in hospital have made an arrest. The victim, aged in his 30s, is believed to have been “struck with a blunt instrument” in the attack, the PSNI have confirmed. He was assaulted in the Montague Atreeet area of Portadown, Co. Arrest after teenage girl dies in collision in Co. Wicklow

A TEENAGE girl has died following a single-vehicle collision in Co. Wicklow. The girl was a passenger in the car when the collision occurred shortly before 5am on Sunday at Slaney Park in Baltinglass. She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Denis Johnston, Irish playwright and protege of W.B. Yeats and George Bernard Shaw, was born on this day in 1901. Johnston’s first play, “The Old Lady Says No!” helped establish his career as a playwright. “The Moon in the Yellow River” (1931) is perhaps his most well known play.
