Young woman dies after falling at Cliffs of Moher

A WOMAN has died after falling at the Cliffs of Moher in Co. Clare. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon while the woman, aged in her 20s, was visiting the popular tourist attraction with friends. Pensioner assaulted during attempted hijacking in Co. Down

A PENSIONER has been assaulted during an attempted hijacking in Co. Down. The incident occurred in Dromore during the early hours of Saturday morning. Man jailed for killing two cyclists after 24 years on the run

A MAN whose dangerous driving led to the deaths of two cyclists has been jailed after 24 years on the run. Bryan Kenealy, 69, and Roger Harris, 66, were cycling in Cheshire in November 1999 when Huseyin Ozkara collided with another car. Man again sentenced to life for murder of ‘gentle soul’ after original conviction quashed

A MAN has been sentenced to life for a second time for murdering his friend after his original conviction was quashed. William Phelan, 39, was found stabbed to death at his home in Harpurhey, Manchester in March 2018. Denis Johnston, Irish playwright and protege of W.B. Yeats and George Bernard Shaw, was born on this day in 1901. Johnston’s first play, “The Old Lady Says No!” helped establish his career as a playwright. “The Moon in the Yellow River” (1931) is perhaps his most well known play.
