FANS of the London Irish Rugby Club have launched a petition to support its return after more than a year spent in administration. The club filed for administration in July 2023 after facing financial difficulties which it was unable to overcome. Irishman celebrates 90th birthday by completing 165km Famine walk

AN IRISHMAN has celebrated turning 90 by completing a 165km walk across Ireland in memory of those forced to flee the country during the Great Famine. Jim Callery completed the National Famine Way walk, which runs from Strokestown in Co. Roscommon to Dublin, yesterday, which is also his 90th birthday. Gary Oldman will return to stage in revival of Samuel Beckett classic

GARY OLDMAN will return to the stage after 40 years in a revival of Samuel Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tape. June 4, 1820

On June 4, 1820, Henry Grattan, outstanding orator and dominant figure in the Irish parliament, died. Grattan entered the Irish Parliament in December 1775. He was the leader of the Patriot movement that won legislative independence for Ireland in 1782. Later he headed opposition to the union of England and Ireland. Grattan spent the last 15 years of his life on the British House of Commons after being elected in 1805.
