Appeal for information on mother and young son missing from Co. Louth

GARDAÍ are appealing for information on the whereabouts of a woman from Co. Louth and her young son, who have not been seen for a week. Dayla Durnin, 24, and her eight-year-old son Kyran Durnin are reported missing from their home in Drogheda since Friday, August 30. Woman who died in Co. Antrim collision is named

POLICE have named the woman who died in a collision in Co. Antrim on Tuesday as 44-year-old Eileen Thornton. Ms Thornton, who was from the Broughshane area, died in hospital following the incident in Ballymena yesterday evening. Garda mandatory retirement age increased to 62

THE mandatory retirement age of serving garda officers has been increased from 60 to 62 years. Taking effect today, the new regulations come under Ireland’s Courts, Civil Law, Criminal Law and Superannuation Act 2024. Actor Liam Neeson was born William John Neeson on this day in 1952 in Co. Antrim. Neeson worked several jobs, such as a forklift operator for Guinness, before joining the Belfast Lyric Players’ Theater. He eventually moved to work at Dublin’s Abbey Theater, where he performed in many of the classics. After his role in Suspect (1987), Neeson began to star in many more films. He was picked to play the role of Oskar Schindler in Spielberg’s 1993 Schindler’s List. He was nominated for a Golden Globe and an Academy Award. Neeson was also nominated for a Tony award. Liam Neeson has starred in several films in which he had a connection with his roots, such as Rob Roy and Michael Collins.
