Michael Dowling, president and CEO of Northwell Health in New York, presented an Irish American Partnership grant of $10,000 to Ahalin National School in Knockaderry, County Limerick, during his June 26 visit to the school. Forrest Reid, Irish novelist and literary critic, was born on this day in Belfast in 1875. To this day, Reid is regarded amongst the likes of J.M. Barrie and Hugh Walpole as a pre-war British boyhood novelist. His most famous work was Young Tom, for which he won a James Tait Black Memorial Prize in 1944.
