Aidan Quinn: A Helping Hand

By Irish America Staff

Aidan Quinn.

With fellow actor Daniel Day-Lewis, Aidan Quinn was one of the first to volunteer at St Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan and was put to work hauling ice for chilling blood. “I was feeling so helpless watching the TV — I wanted to feel useful,” he said afterwards.

Quinn, who resides in New Jersey, with a second home in upstate New York, witnessed at close quarters the devastation that brought pain to so many families in New York City and surrounding communities.

Quinn, who has approximately 25 films to his credit, was born in Chicago to Irish parents. He spent much of his childhood and early adulthood in Offaly and Dublin. He and his wife, Elizabeth Bracco, have two daughters. ♦
