Glucksman Ireland House NYU Honors Four Outstanding Irish and Irish-American Leaders

In what has become a celebrated annual, pre-St Patrick’s Day tradition, Glucksman Ireland House NYU hosted its Gala on Tuesday, March 3 a the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

Critically-acclaimed Irish writer and 1995 Booker Prize winner, Roddy Doyle, received the Seamus Heaney Award for Arts and Letters. CEO Emeritus of Northwell and Irish American leader, Michael J. Dowling, received the Outstanding Public Service Award and Lifetime Contribution to Public Health. Global Chief Executive of Dentons Law Firm, Kate J. Barton, received the Lewis Glucksman Award for Leadership. And co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of Irish America Magazine, Patricia Harty, received the Pete Hamill Award for Journalistic Excellence.

Among the distinguished guests gathered to honor this year’s Honorees were Ireland’s Ambassador to the United States Geraldine Byrne Nason; Loretta Brennan Glucksman Chair of the Advisory Board of Glucksman Ireland House; Fergal Mythen Ireland’s Permanent Representative to the UN; Richard Cushnie Director of the Northern Ireland Bureau; Sarah Jessica Parker award-winning actress and a member of the Booker Prize Committee chaired by Roddy Doyle; Consul General of Ireland Gerald Angley; Provost of NYU Georgina Dopico; 2025 winner of the Lewis L. Glucksman Award for Leadership Eileen Murray; CEO, Heineken USA and 2024 St. Patrick’s Day Parade Grand Marshal Maggie Timoney; and Andrea Haughian, Executive Vice President, Head of Americas in NY, Invest Northern Ireland.

The Gala Co-Chairs were Loretta Brennan Glucksman, Judith McGuire, Kieran McLoughlin, Ted Smyth, and Sophie Sweetman McConnell.

The generous donations of supporters of the annual Gala sustain student scholarship programs, research, and public events at Glucksman Ireland House.
