A MAN in his 30s have died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision in Co. Galway. The incident occurred at Moorock, Ballycumber, in the early hours of Sunday morning "The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a man aged in his 30s, was fatally injured. Two arrested after gardaí seize €185,000 worth of suspected ecstasy and cocaine

TWO people have been arrested after gardaí seized €185,000 worth of suspected ecstasy and cocaine in Co. Cork. The discovery was made at around 4pm on Saturday at a residence in the Douglas area. Man due in court charged with murder of teacher

A MAN has been charged with murder following the death of a teacher in South London. Gemma Devonish, 42, was found with stab wounds at an address in Nutfield Close in Carshalton, South London on Thursday evening. Sadly, Ms Devonish was pronounced dead at the scene. Michael Davitt, Land League organizer, was released from Dartmoor Prison on this day in 1877. During the Fenian Rising, Michael Davitt became involved in the effort to provide Catholics with arms. He took part in the failed raid on Chester Castle in 1867 and then attempted to arm Catholic churches against Protestant attack in 1868. Police arrested Davitt on May 14, 1870 and he was sentenced to 15 years in jail. Davitt wrote several letters from prison chronicling his terrible treatment and the time he spent in solitary confinement. Public opinion grew in his favor and he was released after 7 years.
